I wouldn't send my kid to national type school because the standard of education is very low in these schools.

Until the government seriously address this, why should I compromise on her future? Besides, who is to say she could learn better Malay and English in national type school? I would rather let her (when she is older) interact with my Malay and Indian friends' children.

Thanks for the suggestion. I love kiam chye too! Fried with fish slices, or used to make soup with tomatoes and beaten egg, it certainly stimulates the appetite. But like you, I've decided that it is better to recycle leftovers than wolf everything down in a single meal. We can always get another meal out of leftovers but the same can't be said for excess body fat!

I think one of my weakness is polishing off plates from my children. It does not help too when we were brought up with Asian culture of not wasting food too. I have since devise ways to cook delicious leftover. One of them is the traditional Chinese kiam chye which you only need to put leftovers in one claypot cauldron along with tamarind fruit slices and dried chillies. I would add lotsa bitter greens (bitter sawi), chicken feet, odds and ends of poultry or meat to sweeten up the broth. Try it!

I think Amanda is doing one. It's natural to always be what is the norm in a culture as a child, wanting to be liked and loved.
However, it is also natural for a child to role play and blur the lines between reality and fantasy. With age, she like me, will understand who she is as a person and of her background. It takes a life and more to learn onseself I believe, I'm still learning about myself. Oh, I'm quite happy with brown eyes and hair now too!
